Project: Influence of
intramuscular temperature and glutamate evoked pain on blood oxygenation
Healthy
volunteers are needed for an experiment that will be conducted at the Section
of Orofacial pain and Jaw Function at School of Dentistry, HEALTH, Aarhus
University (Building No. 1610).
The
volunteers will be requested to participate in 3 sessions
(approx. 2 hr. each).
Inclusion criteria
§
Healthy men or women (18-40 years of age).
§
No ongoing pain in the face or any other parts of the body in the last 6
months.
§
No presence of serious general health problems.
§
No ongoing or chronic intake of painkiller.
On each session, a catheter
will be inserted into your masseter muscle in each side in order to insert an
probe for measurement of intramuscular temperature, and a surface device will
be put on the skin for measurement of blood oxygenation. Then, you will be
asked to warm or cold one side of the masseter muscle with a hot or cold pack
and get an intramuscular injection which may cause experimental moderate-pain.
You will be asked to fill out several questionnaires. Subsequently, you will go
through the same process on the other side of your masseter muscle.
After completion of this experiment, you will be compensated
with 1000 DKK.
